The collection Belvest for autumn-winter 2012-2013 was inspired by the gesture of a portrait painter who composes and creates the profile of a subject one brushstroke at a time. Belvest thereby redefines the features of Italian style by creating garments of stunning simplicity and undeniable beauty, faithful to the tradition of excellence and quality that has always been the hallmark of this brand name.
This collection explores a space between formal and casual chic in a man’s wardrobe, working especially on jackets and the concept of “over”. BELLA ITALIA is a racket born of an in-depth study of classic Italian elegance: over-sized lapels and a longer outline that maintains the proportions of the shoulders, designed with new “roping”. The result is a masterpiece of silhouette that exalts the proportions and harmony of the lines. Belvest has also designed an extremely elegant yet sporty racket called NEHRU, with styling inspired by that of the 1940s in the world of English-Indian aristocracy.
The philosophy of the “Jacketinthebox”, redesigned in proportions and fit in an innovative reversible fabric, is based on the concept of a coat created as a “to throw-over”, that is truly easy-to-wear. Born of the expert craftsmanship of Belvest, the coat in air-cashmere combines fine tailoring with the lightness of a scarf.
Foundamental for the look of the collection are the fabrics, chosen in an extensive research among the best manufactures in the world: from wool-silk-cashmere blends to avant-garde double-faced fabrics in fine wools in colourful weaves, from the soft and luxurious velvets like from the old times to an exclusive double-faced jersey in pure cashmere .
Shirts are in fine jersey, microchecked flannel, paisley patterns or printed with microflowers, for that special twist under the jersey jacket. Knitwear is in brilliantly coloured pure wool or cashmere-silk blends, completed by a series of scarves in different stiches and exclusive combinations.
Inspired by the palette of German artist Gerhard Richter, this collection condenses a series of guide-tones that serve as a common texture, a leitmotif to the models. Each “concept” has a dominant nuance as a theme, as do the individual cnvases of an artist. “Supple Green”, “Belvest Blue”, and “Natural Cashmere” colours, from the original hues to “Ecru Taupe”, from the lightest to the darkest shades of brown, ending with a splendid “Auburn Bronze” and its ultra-sophisticated note.
